Who is Ardit Feriz that the US deposited in Kosovo, and what did it have to do with ISIS?

Feriz, who is known by his nickname “Th3Dir3ctorY,” was the leader of a group of cyber hackers called “Kosovo Hacker '%s Security”.

Between June and August 2015, Feriz had supplied stolen information from the American Army, Junaid Hussain, also known as Abu Hussain al-Britani, a key member and hacker working for I SIS, believed to have been killed in late August.

Feriz had been arrested on October 15th in Kuala Lampur, the Associated Press reports, citing Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar.

As of origin from Kosovo, Feriz is the first person in the US to have been convicted of the following two counts: computer retaliation and terrorism. Currently, he is being held in a federal prison in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and is expected to be released in 2032 if he receives credit for good behaviour, the AP reports.

Feriz asked a federal judge in Alexandria to release him from prison. In a motion written by hand by prison, he said asthma and obesity have put him in high danger against contact with COVID-19. He also said special restrictions in prison force him to appear on staff every two hours, thus increasing contact with the guards and at risk of infection with the virus.

Prosecutors rejected his release, and the District Court, Leonie Brinkema, refused Feriz's request during a hearing held Tuesday, citing grief that he could continue revenge if released, among other woes.

Feriz, had entered Malaysia in August 2014 to study computer and forensic science at a private institute in the capital, Kuala Lumpur.
