Fauci said he began receiving death threats on March 28th. His family also began receiving direct threats.
Failed to manage pandemic
“There was harassment against my wife and especially my children, who disturbed me more than anything else,” said Fauci. “They already knew where my children work, where they live. Threats came directly to my children's phones or to my children's homes.”
Fauci, 80, has faced fierce reactions to promoting public safety during the pandemic to the point where he should have federal agents with him when he goes for a walk. Trump publicly despised him on many occasions and there were crowds cheering “Fire Fauci! ” at gatherings.
Although he did not physically face someone, Fauci experienced a very disturbing moment.
“One day I received a letter by mail, opened it, and a measure of dust spread all over my” he said. “This was very, very disturbing for my wife and me.
The “security workers were there. They told me: Don't move, stay in the room. ”
The substance was found harmless after testing, but Fauci remained shocked.
Fauci is now serving as chief medical adviser to the new administration led by President Joe Biden, marking the seventh president he worked with during his career.
