After the opening session in Pristina, interested regional parties were involved in online discussions on how to start implementing Action Plans in Kosovo.
Minister Abrashi said the Action Plans were approved by all regional partners at the Ministerial Council in October 2020. For the Republic of Kosovo, it is very important that the road and railway infrastructure is being completed, so that our country can be introduced on the map of potential investors by contributing to economic development, but also the circulation of goods”, Abrashi said.
While Zakonjsek said that the four Action Plans for the Road, Transport Relief, Rail and Road Safety are a guide manual for all important steps and milestones to achieve concrete goals.
<x0-ways more secure; reduced time waiting at border points; reliable and modern railways; and future roads with integrated green and digital elements. During today's official visit to Kosovo, we will also make stops on Kosovo's auto-roads to highlight the importance of the side controls of the road for general traffic safety and railways, where modern railways are being rebuilt thanks to EU financing”, Zakonjsek said.
He added that the Transport Community Action Plans are in line with the European Commission's Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, which envisions EU investments in transport projects and ties that will contribute to further integration in the region and better ties with the EU.
During this work, a visit took place in the Kosovo Railways, along with the prime minister, Avdullah Hoti, where works are being carried out in modernisation of railway 10, from Hani of Elez to Fushe-Kosovo, which is the first part of rehabilitation.
This investment envisions modernisation of the railway to Lesak in Mitrovica, where the value of the project exceeds the amount of 210m euros.
Minister Abrashi said the second phase of railway rehabilitation starts this year and the third phase to the border with Serbia.
“Inves that the Government of Kosovo is doing, we are turning Kosovo into a crossroads of transport of goods and people and on a foreign investment map”, Abrashi said.
