Women who have a profession to drive transportation are now more often seen at the wheel, especially in taxis or urban buses, not just personal cars.
Vlora Aliu from Skenderaj is among the rare women instead of exercising this profession and works as a taxi driver in Pristina.
Although it may still be strange for a female to be a taxi driver, this is no problem for Vlora.
She loves driving. And that's why she made him do it.
For Vlora, it has not been difficult to get started. According to her, there has been no prejudice, and she has even been well received by passengers.
The start was very good. I didn't have prejudice. Rather, they have been very kind to me, and I have had many praise from the beginning. Passengers are very happy with me”, she is saying.
She even says that passengers have already become family to her.
With the right, with 90% of our passengers we've become family. Every single day. I have many demands from them, and as far as I can, I try to reach”, she says.
Vlora indicates that even his workmates have been well received, even though he lets them know that he had been jealous at first.
The working colleagues are very good staff. We have very good reports between us. They've been a little jealous at first, because now this woman's taking our jobs from”, lets you know Vlora.
The 36-year-old woman from Skenderaj tells of “Zerin” that the company she works with is not the only female.
Three other women work there, she says. She pointed out that there are never problems between them, and you had a very good time.
Vlora says she is satisfied with this profession and has no complaints from passengers.
I'm fine. I'm glad and I don't have any complaints”, she said briefly.
The first female taxi that began to exercise this profession in Kosovo was from the municipality of Gjilan, in 2016. Women have been joined by the municipality of Pristina and Mitrovica since then.
