Things have changed since 2001. The number of candidates is not the same, there was more at the time than there will be in the February 14th elections.
1079 candidates for deputies in early elections, but the largest number was in 2001, with a total of 1,000 and 333 candidates.
For two decades in Kosovo, seven election processes have been organised. While these February 14 are also premature, they are eight in a row.
The largest number of certified candidates to participate in the elections was in 2001, while at least there were candidates in 2017.
At 6: 00 a.m. on Saturday, it has been the deadline for handing over lists of MPs for the certificate for the February 14th race.
There are 28 political subjects who have submitted lists for the application, meanwhile, the total number of candidates for deputies of these political subjects is 1079.
Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi shows how many candidates for MPs have been during these two decades.
Over the past two decades in free Kosovo, 7 electoral processes for the Kosovo Assembly have been organised. The February 14th elections are the eighth consecutive for the Assembly. During past election processes, thousands of candidates have been certified by the Central Election Commission, and have been competing for seats in the Kosovo Assembly. The largest number of candidates has been in the 2001 assembly elections (1.333 candidates), while at least the candidate had in the 2017 elections (971 candidates)”, Elez says.
Elez, meanwhile, also speaks of the number of political subjects who have participated in the assembly elections during these years. As it shows, in 2004 it was the largest number of certified political subjects.
The number of political subjects that have participated in the assembly elections over the past two decades has been almost rough in any election process. There have been no major differences from one election process to another. Mostly certified political subjects we had in 2004 (33 subjects), while at least in past elections on October 6, 2019 (25 subject)”, he added.
By Monday the lists will be sent to six other institutions for verification of these candidates. As of February 1st, lots will be cast for the ranking of political subjects in the ballots for the February 14th elections.
