It is sad news that the life of Sabi Brokaj, the good man of Albanian politics.
Brokaj entered Albanian politics after the fall of the communist dictatorship, the most difficult time of political transition, but was an example of a rational politician.
Also, as Albanian Defence Minister during 1997 1999, there was a very important and very constructive role for Kosovo found in flames. He spared nothing for the liberation war in Kosovo, was one of the largest supporters of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Otherwise, renowned Professor Sabit Brokaj was separated from life today at the age of 78 by a heart attack. Brokaj was born on January 7, 1942, in Vlora. From 1959 to 1964, he served as a medical assistant on a submarine. After graduating from the University of Tirana medical faculty in 1969, Brokaj continued to serve as a medical chief of a brigade in Shijak from 1969 to 1972.
From 1972 to 1984, Brokaj worked as a cardiologist at the military hospital in Tirana. He traveled to France to study cardiology in 1979 and ecocardology in 1982. During this period, Brokaj was one of Enver Hoxha's personal doctors.
Brokaj entered Albanian politics after the fall of the communist dictatorship, lining up with the Socialist Party. Initially, he served as minister of health from February to December 1991. He was elected speaker of the People's Assembly in 1991, 1996 and 1997. On July 25, 1997, Brokaj was appointed defence minister, who has held it until 1999.
