For Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, Kosovo and Serbia are not close to the final agreement. He has been pessimistic about a quick political solution, although many days the two countries signed the economic normalisation agreement at the White House.
However, Vuciq thinks the burden of full normalisation of the reports with Kosovo should not leave the next generation, while stressing that there should be no murder between Serbian and Albanian children in the future.
I don't think we're close to any solution with Kosovo, but I don't think we have the right to let our children handle it. We should not have Serb or Albanian children killed in the future. I think these agreements are extremely important to keep peace, and at some point I can't say whether it's going to take place in three months or in one year, it can solve our problems and leave a clear future for our children once and for all”, Vuciq said.
Meanwhile, Kosovo's recognition continues to be a precondition for Serbia so that it can join the European Union, though Vuciq has often rejected it.
