Political normalisation with Kosovo is a precondition for Serbia's entry into the European Union, Reuters writes, Periscopi conveys.
Serbia and Kosovo have agreed to take steps towards economic co-operation, including joint infrastructure projects, in agreements signed at the White House on September 4th, which US President Donald Trump called “significant progress”.
In the first interview with a Western news organisation, Vuciqi described the agreements as a major step in the right direction, but far from political normalisation.
“I think such agreements are very important in order to preserve peace and once and for all solve our problems to have a clear future for our children,” told Vuciq Reuters.
I'm not saying we're close to a political solution,” he added, underlining that economic co-operation was “the key” for any possible political agreement in the future.
“If you live in a small country that is geographically at the crossroads (between East and West), then your policy should be to maintain peace and stability, which is non-compliance with anyone, which is impossible, or to conflict with each equally,” he said.
Trump also said he hoped Donald Trump would visit Serbia. /Periscope
