Valbon Krasniqi: The calmest situation, but the end of the pandemic seems not near.

Valbon Krasniqi, U.D. of the general director of USKKUK, has said that the situation with pandemic has normalised over the past few weeks.

“We are witnesses that in the last three weeks in Kosovo, we have the smallest number of cases of infected; we also have a small number of patients who are lying in general hospitals even at QKUK clinics in Pristina”.

Krasniqi has said that health services have been restored for this reason.

Looking at this positive trend, as far as the epidemic is concerned in our country, we thought we now have the favorable moment to restore health services that have long been missing from our citizens”.

We have already entered the seventh month; we have spent six months since the beginning of the pandemic in Kosovo, and we have an obligation to provide services to other patients. Citizens have faced serious difficulties in receiving the remaining” services.

We hope that this will not be repeated in Kosovo. We experienced very serious periods in terms of pandemic management. We had major requests for hospital treatment and extreme overload of our hospitals, during the month of August we had over 650 additional patients, Krasniqi said.

Krasniqi has stressed that respecting the measures on the part of citizens brings results.

Now that schools have started, there are more exposures to people, this adds to the possibilities of frequent contacts and the possibility of spreading” infection.

If we go back, Kosovo was highly criticised for the large number of cases of both the infected and the dead. That was seen to be a marathon.

We should see it as a process that has a beginning, but there's an end that doesn't seem to be near. From the stage we had in July and August, we now have the most peaceful situation. We need to view it as a whole, not in separate times”.
