According to the deposits, two political figures claiming to represent Donald Trump offered Julian Assange a lax agreement to avoid prosecution and extradition to the US.
Under the proposed deal, presented by Assanger lawyer Jennifer Robinson, the head of Wikipedia was offered forgiveness in exchange for discovering the source of stolen emails from the Democrat camp, in order to eliminate the claim that they were stolen from Russian hackers helping Trump win the 2016 elections.
Robinson said in a statement that the offer was made by former Republican Congresswoman Dana Rohrabacher and Trump associate Charles Johnson at a meeting on August 15th 2017 at the equatorial embassy in London, where Assang was sheltered.
Robinson added: “Proposal was made by Congressman Rohrabacher, where it required that Assange identify the source of American election publications 2016, in exchange for an apology or guarantees that would benefit President Trump and prevent the extradition of Assange to the US.
But Assang had not identified the source of emails.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, the Wikipedia Network published a series of internal emails to Hillary Clinton's democratic camp, which US intelligence said were obtained by Russian hackers influencing the elections.
Assange is in the legal battle against extradition to the US, where it is required for computer piracy, conspiracy in publishing national defence information.
