The new decision will affect only those who have not yet downloaded the apps and those who wish to make updates and is less effective than expected, Reuters writes.
The WeChat app, which serves in exchange for messages, as a social network and as an internet payment app, will face stricter restrictions than TTok. TikTok users will note little changes by November 12th, when the ban on certain technical transactions will take effect.
“We disagree with the Trade Department decision and are disappointed at blocking new app downloads from Sunday and preventing the use of the TikTok app in the US from November 12th. We will continue to challenge the unfair executive order”, the company's statement said.
