After a several-month break, today the first phase of the new school year will begin in Kosovo schools.
Based on the decision by Minister of Education and Science Rame Likaj, for the start of the new 2020/21 school year in pandemic conditions, the first class of learning, in all Kosovo schools, will be dedicated to informing and awareness of students regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UN has proposed that on September 14th begin classes of 0, 1, 2, 3, 6, 10 in all schools in the Republic of Kosovo. Class 4 and 5 begin learning entirely at school or with combined learning, depending on the capacity of the school, valued by the DKA and educational institutions. And in the second phase, on September 21st, start teaching combined for classes 7, 8, 9, and 11, 12, continuing to teach two days at school and three days online/from a distance.
All are obliged to wear masks, and the UN has shared about half a million masks in schools in Kosovo.
Apart from masks obtained by the DKA, partners, donors and schools themselves, The UN and the Government of Kosovo have shared and planned a part of the budget for masks, other protective and disinfecting tools, so schools will have spare mask funds, the KAS has announced.
While, the Health Ministry has warned it will be very strict in the assessment of measures, respecting guidelines and protocols to raise discipline and maintain the health of children, teachers and citizens of Kosovo.
The IKSHPK also stressed that the importance of respecting three basic rules during the learning process, such as wearing mask, distance, and hygiene.
Otherwise, the learning process in Kosovo schools has been held online since the outbreak of the coronary pandemic in March.
