Former Minister for Dialogue Edita Tahiri orders the Kosovo delegation in Washington that any economic agreement that can be reached between the two countries be with a clear political framework between two independent and sovereign states. According to her, any agreement, whether economically, has the political burden, so the Kosovo delegation must act in full accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. Tahiri, who has once led talks with Serbia, says Kosovo is in a favourable position, citing here American engagement, which, according to her, such a commitment is the opportunity to come up to mutual recognition. In an interview for Kosovo Press, Tahiri says there cannot be only economic topics in the talks until there is a political problem between Kosovo and Serbia, which is mutual non-recognition.
There have been three economic agreements between Kosovo and Serbia with Mr. Green's mediation, but if you look at the documents nowhere you can see it's an interstate agreement, now no agreement that can come out of Washington can come out without clear political framework that is about two independent and sovereign states. My message for the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo is that economic agreements that do not have the political clarity of an interstate agreement can be harmful and damaging to the citizenship of Kosovo, because we are dealing with an official American mediator, and we are dealing with agreements that are not only called economics, they have the political and geopolitical burden, so now the delegation must really be vigilant on these jobs and act on the Kosovo Constitution, but the constitution is in agreement, so state relations between the two states<1> According to her, if Serbia targets economic agreement, then must accept Kosovo reality
