The Specialised Prosecutor's Office has issued a communiqué to the media following the arrest of the head of the Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans Organisation Hysni Gucati.
The communique has not mentioned the reason for Gucat's arrest.
Hysni GUCATI was arrested today in Kosovo by the Prosecutor's Office on the basis of a warrant for arrest and transfer, issued by a court of preliminary procedure of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers”, the communiqué begins.
“According to the Law for Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, police under the Specialised Prosecutor's Office have the authority and responsibility to exercise the competencies that Kosovo police have been given under Kosovo laws. In the Law for Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, it is also determined that the person against whom the Specialised Chambers have issued warrants of arrest is taken into ban”, it is further said.
The European Union's Mission for Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) provided operational and logistical support to SPS, in accordance with its mandate and with Kosovo legislation. Even Kosovo Police (PK) provided operational support to SPS”, the communique continues.
