At his day-to-day conference, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus urged countries to learn from the current pandemic to prepare for a future pandemic. He praised Thailand, Mongolia, Senegal and other countries for their response to the virus.
Many of these countries have done well because they learned from previous outbreaks of the SARS virus, MERCS, measles, polio, Ebola, flu and other diseases”, he said. “That is why it is vital that all learn lessons from this pandemic”.
Global Figures
Meanwhile Monday, India passed Brazil as the country with the second highest number of confirmed cases of Coronobrus.
The health ministry reported a record 90,802 new cases Monday, giving India a total of more than 4.2 million cases since the beginning of the blast. India also added 1,016 deaths Monday, bringing their total number to 71,642.
Brazil reported 14,521 new cases Sunday, and while now following India in terms of general cases, the country follows only the United States in terms of deaths of 126,650 people from COVID-19.
The United States leads the world with some 6.3 million confirmed cases and 189,000 deaths.
In Australia, officials in the state of Victoria said Monday there were 41 new cases -- the lowest one-day increase since the end of June.
Victoria has struggled to control what has been the biggest outbreak of COVID in Australia. Authorities imposed movement restrictions in early August, and with the first progress since then, several rules were announced Sunday.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison also said on Monday that Australia has an agreement with CSL company to produce two coronary vaccines if they prove to be safe and effective in clinical trials.
A possible vaccine is under way by CSL company and is scheduled to pass into the second phase of clinical trials later this year.
The other vaccine is a joint project between the AstraZeneca company and Oxford University currently in proof of the late phase. Mr. Morrison said on Monday that CSL will also produce that vaccine for distribution in Australia and that he expects 3.8 million doses to be available in January or February 2021.
Israel is starting partial overnight closures in 40 cities and towns with the highest levels of infection in the country. Schools in those areas will also be closed, and gatherings will be limited to 10 people inside and 20 outside.
I know these restrictions are not easy, but in the current situation there is no deviation from them,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.
