A new bronze statue of the first American lady Melanie Trump has been erected in her hometown of Slovenia.
It replaced a wooden sculpture that was burned by strangers shortly after its establishment last year.
Some described the original statue as the shameful “” and said it did not look like Melanie Trump.
The new statue has a plaque on which it is written that is dedicated to the eternal “memory of Melanie's monument standing at this location”.
Trump was born in Novo Mesto in 1970 in the town of Sevnica, when Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia.
American artist Brad Downey made an original statue that was placed outside Sevnica in 2019.
Local master Ales Zupevc carved it with a chain saw from a tree trunk.
The statue is painted blue, reminding you of the blue coat the first lady wore on her husband's inauguration, President Donald Trump.
The statue burned on 4 July, America's Independence Day, but Downey left it at the exhibition in Slovenia, saying he described the <x0 political options existing in this country”.
A wooden statue of President Trump was also placed in Sevnica last year. It was about eight feet high, with one head and square fork. It drew much criticism before it was burned by unnamed authors in January 2020.
