Over the past 24 hours, 567 new cases of infection were recorded in Slovakia, the highest figure since the beginning of the pandemic.
The prime minister of this Central European state said the emergency situation comes into force from October 1st, writes The Guardian, broadcast the Express newspaper.
The emergency situation, which is set to last 45 days, gives the government more competencies for imposing stricter measures but does not automatically mean returning to isolation as in the first period of pandemic.
This country of 5.5 million people has one of the lowest rates of coronary victims in Europe 48, managing to maintain low infection rates in the first phase of pandemic.
However, like other countries, Slovakia has recently faced increased numbers of cases, so it has taken stricter measures to combat the spread of the virus.
