A Serbian official said there is no “firm decision” for the shift of Serbia's Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Last week, United States President Donald Trump said the decision on this was made under an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on economic normalisation signed in Washington.
“for now, we have not accepted anything; nothing has been signed”, Serbian President for Media General Suzana Vasilevic told the media in Serbia.
Washington's agreement also envisions mutual recognition between Kosovo and Israel.
Vasilevic said Serbia “will see how the situation will develop and how Israel will behave when his relations with Kosovo are in question”.
Meanwhile, The Jerusalem Post quoted an anonymous source “close to” with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, as saying Serbia “will not transfer its embassy to Jerusalem if Israel recognises Kosovo as an independent state”.
The Trump administration has recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel at the end of 2017 and has moved the American Embassy there in May 2018.
The European Union has expressed “serious concern” for Serbia's goal of candidate country for EU membership to transfer embassy to Jerusalem.
The EU supports a two-state <x0 resolution” for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with which Jerusalem would be both the capital of Israel and the future Palestinian state. /rel
