Early this week, close to 100 US troops came to Kosovo to serve as part of NATO's peacekeeping mission. Now, about 30 women and men are expected to arrive from Maryland as Commander Rob Wille announced during the distribution ceremony that this is a mission making history
Some of the troops coming from this American state will serve in Kosovo, reports Stripes magazine.
Commander Rob Wille during the distribution ceremony said this is a very important mission and that their service will be special.
“Today is a very special day. This is definitely a special service. Through this is the story being written”, he said.
Meanwhile, General Janen Birckhead at the ceremony said she feels proud of all the soldiers and that the fact that they will serve in Kosovo makes her feel much better, the Metro newspaper reports.
We remember that nearly 700 American soldiers serve in Kosovo, where they stay at Camp Bondsteel, since the postwar as part of NATO's peacekeeping mission.
This base was built in Kosovo, following Serbia's shelling when the region came under the control of the international peacekeeping mission, and has been appointed according to US Army war veteran James Leroy Bondsteel.
