Switzerland's People's Party (SVP) had called for a referendum on the EU agreement -- a vote that was considered an important test of attitude towards foreigners, who make up a quarter of this country's population.
The broadcaster says that its projections, based on preferential results from Sunday's plebiscite, indicated that the motion had been defeated by 63 per cent, the Guardian reports, in Albanian Periscope.
The motion presented a grim picture of young foreigners who replaced old Swiss, with more expensive housing, schools and overcrowding transport, and construction in ferocity.
The plan's opponents said he had stolen the businesses of qualified workers and that he broke EU agreements with non-member states.
Under the Swiss system of direct democracy, the referendum would have forced the government to annul the agreement reached with the EU. /Periscope
