Powerful Blast in Tehran

A sharp explosion at a battery factory in southwest Tehran has left one dead, dozens injured and damaged, state news agency Irna reported today.

The fire caused by the blast was so large that a worker died immediately and ten residents of the building's 25 apartments were easily injured”, the fire chief said, the ATS.

The “cause of the blast is undefined and an investigation is under way”, he added.

The incident is the latest in a series of fires and explosions that have hit Iranian military and civilian countries since June.
