The Commission for Human Rights, Gender Equality for Ungenerate Persons and Petitions has submitted the names of ombudsman candidates { Edona Haju Godu, Naim Qelaj, Xhavit Shala.
Since 2 July 2020, the Ombudsman's institution in Kosovo has remained with task officers. Hilmi Jashar, who held this position in the past five years, has been without a mandate since this date.
Yasar remains a task leader until the election of the new lawyer, as it has enabled the Kosovo Assembly.
Under the Law for the ombudsman, the ombudsman selection procedure must begin six months before the mandate is expired.
Otherwise, the ombudsman selection process has been accompanied with trouble in the past. Before Hilmi Jashar was elected to this position, the Kosovo Assembly in 2015 had failed to vote on candidates who had been sent to the session. So the contest had been repeated where Hilmi Yasar had received the necessary votes.
