Opposition accuses Hoti of suspension of citizenship, give up foreign policy

Kosovo's 1-year-old moratorium for non-application in international organisations is considered a suspension of the state for this period. The two opposition parties -- the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic Party of Kosovo -- are saying this decision is very harmful, as Kosovo is giving up foreign policy. Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, meanwhile, has stressed that this [...]
At Albin Kurti's party, they told Kosova Prees that Hoti has voluntarily given up recognising the country. The spokesman, Progress Kryeziu, says the move is harmful to the country.
“oratorium is a suspension of citizenship for a year. Effectively what Kosovo has said through this agreement is that for a year my citizenship and the constituent elements of my citizenship are insufficient for organisations to accept as equal parties. It's a suspension of citizenship and a lack of recognition of self voluntarily. Then how could there be a possibility that another subject in the future could recognise Kosovo”, he says.
Hard for this government decision, Hoti, also voiced from his workshop. PDK.
Party spokesman Avni Bytic says this is an irrational move by Prime Minister Hoti.
The “is very harmful, as it is unclear to us why Kosovo has renounced foreign policy. What is the reason, for us, is unreasonable why a country's prime minister has given up on foreign policy, especially when it is the matter of recognition and membership in international organisations”, he says.
And the prime minister through a media conference days ago has said the country has been asked to reach a final agreement with Serbia during this period.
Meanwhile, he stressed that in no international organisation can apply when they have US support.
“You should remember that no membership in international organisations can be ensured unless we have the support of the US and key EU countries. What we've been asked to do is let us sit down during this period that we have before trying to work towards the final agreement. If you carefully read the point related to this mortorium, it is the application to international organizations. While it is the mortorium for Serbia to stop the campaign for recognition”, he has said.
Kosovo has not been able to become part of any international organisation in recent years. Country failed to join U NESTO and Interpol. Meanwhile, in addition to Israel's recent recognition, Kosovo in the past two years has had respect to formal recognitions from other states.
