Montenegrin police announced that Monday evening they have identified at least eleven events with elements of violence, while opposition coalitions are celebrating the results marked in the parliamentary elections in Montenegro that were held on August 30th.
Opposition coalition leaders: “For Montenegro's future”, “Peace is our nation”, and “black in white”, led by politicians, Zdravko Krivokapiq, Alexa Beciq and Dritan Abazovic, condemned the incidents and expressed doubt that supporters of the former Montenegrin government or secret service were behind certain incidents.
The call was also joined by the Serbian Orthodox Church, which also called on citizens to avoid gatherings during the coming days.
“Political change should not be a reason for the spread of intolerance”, the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro said.
The ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) said opposition supporters, in some cities in Montenegro, have organised gatherings, during which, “citizens are aggressively provoked, with nationalist slogans”.
The State Election Commission has announced the preliminary results of parliamentary elections held on August 30th. The three opposition coalitions won more than half the seats in the future composition of Montenegro's parliament.
Out of 81 seats, Milo Djukanovic's Democratic Party of Socialists won 40 seats with minority parties and traditional partners, while three opposition parties won 41 seats.
