Montenegro's State Election Commission has announced on Monday the final results of the August 30th elections.
Based on the results, President Milo Djukanovic's Democratic Party of Socialists has won 30 seats in parliament's new composition, coalition “For the Future of Montenegro”, 27 MPs, coalition, “Peace is our nation”- 10 and the coalition “black in white” four places.
The Bosniak Party and the Social Democrats each won the Social Democrat Party two, and one seat in parliament has won it: The Albanian list “Nick Gelosha-Genci Nimanbegu” and the “Basce coalition a Za”.
After announcing final results within 15 days, Parliament Speaker Ivan Brajovic calls the first session of the new composition of Montenegro's Parliament.
Montenegro's President Milo Djukanovic proposes the name of the new prime minister in the 30-day term since parliament's constitutionalisation.
The elections in Montenegro were held on August 30th. For the first time in three decades, President Milo Djukanovic's Democratic Party of Socialists has lost most in parliament.
The elections were won by opposition parties considered pro-Serbian and pro-Russian.
Montenegro, otherwise, is considered the leader of the European integration process. It has been the first Western Balkan country to start accession negotiations with the European Union in June 2012.
Leaders of the three political subjects of the opposition coalition, which have won the majority in Montenegro's parliamentary elections, at a news conference on 9 September have presented the principles on which the future government will be supported and which imply co-operation with the NATO coalition, the failure to question recognition of Kosovo, and rule out the possibility of changing Montenegrin state symbols.
Principles of the agreement were proclaimed by coalition leaders “for Montenegro's future”, “Peace is our nation” and our “black on white” and Zdravko Krivokapakis, Alexa Bechiqi and Dritan Abazovic.
