Meanwhile, more than 100 eurodeputes have called for sanctions against those responsible for the attacks on opposition members and journalists in Russia following the poisoning of Navajo.
In an open letter to EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell, members of various political groups in the European Parliament call for “a full and transparent review of the issue”.
They cited the attacks on a number of critical figures of the Russian government, such as journalist Ana Politikovska, who was shot dead at her apartment building in Moscow in 2006, and former double agent Sergei Scripal, who was poisoned with Novichok in England in 2018.
Navalny is currently in a coma at a Berlin hospital.
