Days ago, the Ministry of Education, after meeting with other health institutions, decided that the 2020/2021 school year will begin on September 14, 2020.
Postponing the start of the school year was designed to ensure secure conditions for children, teachers, and parents. It will also ensure a greater overall mobilization in the face of pandemic in Kosovo.
Schools in the capital have already been prepared for the new school year according to education ministry guidelines.
At the lower high-school facilities of “Faik Conica” in Pristina, there are signals that will remind students to keep distance and hygiene.
The principal of this school, Jehona Oruqi, told Kosova pris that even the facilities of this school have been disinfected, as well as has become the new schedule organisation in which classes will be divided into groups so that there are not many students simultaneously in classrooms.
“We've made all the preparations, starting with the sign of the school yard, so we can keep the student distance, then we've compiled the schedules, and we've also shared the class groups that will follow for days and weeks. The school is disinfected as a whole, so have awareness postaries”, Oruqi said.
If a student shows up with symptoms, he will be separated from the other group of students and kept until his parents come to another room.
Oruqi says the school “Faik Konica” has already created this particular room, while there is a protocol that will be followed for other students who have had contact with a suspected infection student.
We've also created power within the school, and we also have the core (special room) inside, where students who are potential will be isolated until the parent arrives to attract them. And if it happens that during the learning process we have a student who's going to be with COVID-19, then we're going to proceed according to protocol as before, which probably happens that the group goes into isolation for several days until tests are submitted or done, says Oruqi.
Preparations for the new school year have also been made at the Low High Start School “Naim Frasher”.
The director of this institution, Shqipe Vlasaliu, told Kosova Preis that, under the preparations, some of the teachers who will offer students first aid in the event of any symptoms.
“The entire school has been disinfected, a room is divided that, in case the child has any symptoms, the teachers have been assigned who have primarily chosen those who had a nursing high school, with the first aid box they'll take measures until we inform the parents... We have also placed mail at the entrances, classroom doors where children watching and reading them, will be educated to save themselves”, says Vlasaliu.
The Ministry of Education and Science has preceded the start of the new school year under three scenarios, where scenario A includes present teaching in school institutions with preventative measures, scenario B means a partial return with complex-pressive learning and distance learning and a C-road scenario.
