In Washington's agreement, Kosovo has pledged to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organisation and to meet all measures to limit its operations and financial activities.

But security experts claim that Kosovo is committed to fighting terrorism, since as a country it has failed to become a member of international organisations, such as INTERPOL.

Former Kosovo Security Forces Commander, simultaneously security expert Kadri Kastrati, tells Kosovo that through Kosovo they cross all roads from east to west, for which he claims the danger of spreading terrorism is enormous.

“One of Kosovo's biggest Mondays is that Kosovo is not a member of INTERPOL and EUROOPOL and other mechanisms that are very important at the present time when terrorism is fought, to share information, to inform each other that these movements are extremely dangerous for Kosovo and the region, and the global aspect”, Kastracti declares.

Kastrati says justice and security institutions must be empowered to identify whether there are elements of these organisations in the country. Since, according to him, with the last agreement signed in Washington, Kosovo has taken an obligation to fight other terrorist organisations.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and other political and operational mechanisms should in Kosovo begin to identify whether there are elements in Kosovo of terrorism. And then if they identify that there are elements they have to make a strategy to fight these, to catch them or to eliminate all elements related to these organizations. But not just that. We have other organizations, we shouldn't focus only on Hezbollah, we should focus on other organisations”, he adds to Kosovas.

That Kosovo is vulnerable to non-membership in INTERPOL says even security expert Nuredin Ibishi.

“If we are not an active part of an organisation such as INTERPOL, the immediate implementation of an information processing or a given, an approach, such as a member of a terrorist organisation or organised crime, each delay has its own inevitable consequences”, he points out.

Other security expert Drizan Shala estimates that the deal reached at the White House is attributed to the recognition coming from Israel.

I think that the Hezbollah organisation's proclamation in an agreement in Washington is more attributed to the recognition coming from Israel ... And this declaration in this agreement, Hezbollah as a terrorist organisation is a kind of alibi for Israel to live bilateral relations between Kosovo and Israel”, Shala points out.

In this regard, Kosova Press has contacted Interior Minister Bajram Gecaj's adviser. The same one says about Kosovo that fighting terrorism is an operational issue of the Kosovo Police.

According to the UN Information Office, the current situation is much different from the years 2013 and 2014.

” Since 2013 and so far Kosovo Police have initiated criminal investigations against more than 350 people, while more than 165 people suspected of criminal acts of terrorism and other criminal acts against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo” have been arrested, the PK's response reported.

However, Kosovo in Washington has agreed to implement a one-year rhetoric not to seek new membership in international organisations, including INTERPOL.
