At this commission meeting where the amendment to the Law for Official Festivals is discussed, it is decided that MP Krasniqi's initiative will be submitted to the session for voting.
MP Elbert Krasniqi said in his reasoning they have demanded that the Law for Official Festival be included June 24th as the national day of Kosovo Egyptians.
“We have launched a legal initiative to complete the change of the Law for Festivals, in this law is lacking the day of Kosovo Egyptians, we have proposed that someone else be known for June 24th as the Egyptian National Day in Kosovo, and we have made a proposal to change the last sentence where we consider it to be non-coutious at the end and not democratic for others to decide, the Serb community to decide for other official holidays. I believe it's non-unconstitutional, he said.
The chairman of this commission, Mergim Lushtaku, has demanded that within the framework of the amendment of the Law for Official Festival, in addition to MP Elbert Krasniqi's request, the Kosovo Government's proposals under the resolution of this law be included.
He said that among the government's recommendations is Article 4 to reshape that when official holidays fall on weekends not be fired on the following working days.
However, his request has not been supported by the deputies of this commission, who have demanded that the session be submitted as a special initiative only for the appointment of June 24th as the day of the Egyptian community.
