Kosovo University Clinical Hospital Service Director Valbon Krasniqi says in an interview for Kosovo Press that despite having a slight decline in cases with COVID-19, the situation still remains heavy.

Krasniqi says they are also making preparations for the second wave of spread of pandemic, which is expected to occur during autumn and winter.

“Although we have a slight trend of lowering cases, however the situation still turns heavy, we still have a large number of patients lying in our hospitals and we still have large numbers of deaths submitted by COVID. The number of cases of more than 100 per day still continues to be high, and this, normally, can then be reflected with requests to extend to hospitals”, he stressed.

Regarding predictions that during autumn and winter there will be a greater number of patients affected by Corleone or known as the second wave, Krasniqi has said they are making the necessary preparations.

He says that, along with human capacities, they are aiming to provide sustainable oxygen supplies, as there has been trouble in this regard.

“We are tracking the epidemiological situation in the country as well as in the surrounding states and possible forecasts to have greater numbers of patients even during the fall and winter, making necessary preparations in terms of increasing capacity and ensuring sustainable oxygen supply. You know that one of the main challenges during this time was the very stable oxygen supply we've made plans and projects for expansion and increasing the number of beds that will be linked to the central oxygen system. And you also know that with human resources, the Ministry of Health and the government is working on creating additional capacities not only existing ones, and you also know that human resources are working towards the accession of 1,000 doctors in specialisation as well as a number of nurses through the World Bank's borrowing project, and we will eventually proceed with both the USKKKKKK with the employment of specialists who have carried out the”, he said.

Krasniqi for Kosova Prees has said that since there is a slight decline in the numbers of people affected by coronarys are planning to restore most hospital services that have been suspended as a result of the spread of pandemic.

But he adds that they are also in expectation of recommendations from the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health on how high these services can be returned.

We are in preparation and are planning soon to restore most of these services, however, during this time most of these services were performed in QKUK clinics in gynecology, at the Paddy in Radioology, in Neurology all patients have received treatment, as well as in Oncology patients who have been affected by mountain diseases while specialist ambulances have not worked.... There's been 10 days since the Gynecology Clinic now we don't have patients in the department that we've adopted for that purpose, we have a symbolic number of patients at the Neurology Clinic... If this trend continues we have only the Infectious Clinic here in Pristina and Pulmos to hold for patients with COVID. Also, regional hospitals have been directed to limit the number of patients to infectious and Pulmology units, while other services continue. However, we are awaiting recommendations from the MSH and IKSHPK to which level of service to return”, he said.

Despite being quite large, the number of nurses affected by coronarys has also lost their battle with this virus, Valbon Krasniqi was. The director of SHSKUK, says the medical staff is generally well equipped with equipment and protection equipment.
