Former US National Security Council John Bolton is being investigated for the possible discovery of classified information when he published a book with his memoirs in June.

The US Department of Justice began criminal investigations after failing to prevent publication of the book, the BBC reports.

Bolton denies all charges.

In the book Bolton describes the Trump administration as chaotic.

Bolton, who served as National Security adviser in 2018-19, also claims that American President Donald Trump's decisions are governed by his desire for re-election.

At the time of the publication of the book “Reminders from the White House”, President Trump made it clear that he wanted his former assistant to be prosecuted, describing him as the extremely incompetent “” and “a liar”.

In a statement, Bolton's lawyer, Charles J. Cooper said that “Ambassador Bolton flatly rejects any claim he has acted indecently, leaving him more criminally, regarding the publication of his book, and he will cooperate fully, as he has worked all the time, with any official investigation into his” behavior.
