State Co-ordinator for Dialogue Skender Hyseni has said the economic agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which has been signed at the White House, is the last step towards the final agreement.
The most powerful “Picka is the very fact that it was signed at the White House in the presence of President Donald Trump. The most powerful point as a whole is that this agreement represents the crucial first step that is inevitable leading to mutual recognition of Kosovo-Serbia. I want to express regret over expectations that I don't know how they were created that there will be mutual recognition in Washington of”.
It's said in principle that we go to any meeting of this nature we go for mutual recognition, but not necessarily at this meeting for mutual recognition. We knew clearly what the agenda of this meeting was all the time. We have clearly known that in Washington DC we are coming to sign an agreement that is always in line with the deep conviction of the White House that only a commitment to a robust economic development for the region is necessary as a first step so that resolving other issues of ultra-political nature becomes much easier”.
He in an interview from Washington has voiced confidence that the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is a matter of months.
“We don't need people to interpret as excessive what Donald Trump said, which is a historic agreement, because I'm setting a fundamental precondition that the next steps will inevitably bring what's main. Nothing works on these unless the main happens. We also say in Brussels that no topic functions with Serbia until these two countries recognise each other. I'm sure we're talking for months about when the recognition between Kosovo and Serbia will occur, a final agreement that these two states will be able to get to know each other, and maybe establish diplomatic relations soon after that”.
The State Co-ordinator for Dialogue has said earlier money agreements have been a waste of time.
According to him, the economic agreement signed today is completely different from the type of earlier agreements.
I've also said in the framework that it's a leading document for me in negotiations like State Coordinator that money deals have been a waste of time. I found out that way even when these agreements were reached, because I don't see it possible. This is a bilateral agreement between Kosovo and the US on the other side for a number of infrastructure projects essential to the economic development of the region, which for the most part are American investments. It's about the deal that's the exact opposite of the agreements by now”.
It's a trilateral agreement signed bilaterally. The Kosovo government is responsible for infrastructure projects that capture Kosovo's territory, whether railway, highway or gasoline, which are three mega-projects exceeding the amount of 1 billion euros”.
