MP Sejdiu Hoxha's PDK has reiterated his party's stance regarding the Washington meeting, where Kosovo and Serbia signed economic agreements with the US.
Hoxha in Info Magazine of Kosovo has said the Kosovo delegation has slipped from political themes to opening technical issues, until it added that the PDK has expected mutual recognition from the 4 September meeting.
“The PDK has a clear attitude about the agreement that was signed in Washington. We have also had a clear attitude about the delegation representing Kosovo there. We have been in favour of this meeting and have advised Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti to take advantage of this historic opportunity and from this meeting Kosovo to come forth with mutual recognition with Serbia and guarantee the seat at the UN, as well as to preserve the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
Whatever didn't like it The PDK, but certainly many citizens of the country, is that Kosovo has slipped from the meeting in Washington from the political issue to the opening of technical topics related to the natural resources Kosovo has. To The PDK has been unacceptable why the Kosovo delegation has slipped from a very important topic, because we from Washington have expected mutual recognition”.
MP The PDK has also criticised the composition of the Kosovo delegation, which it has said was not prepared and co-ordinated.
Several drafts of the agreement have been circulated, and one of them has been spoken to as the terms of the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia's Republic, and after the Serb side's opposition this term has been removed, which has been the main term of this document. What has been bad for Kosovo has also been the non-coordination of the Kosovo delegation, which have acted as if they were tribal representatives and not representatives of the Kosovo Government”.
We think the delegation was unprepared and ill-coordinated in Washington. There was a draft agreement that sieved the political spectrum, no MPs, no civil society and the media. No one knew what was being signed in that document”.
He has declared that for The PDK is unacceptable to the discussion of Mini-Shengen and not for EU membership and ensuring the UN seat.
“We have consistently requested that the Kosovo delegation talk about Schengen in Washington and guarantee Kosovo EU entry and sitting in the UN, rather than having the Mini-Shengen that is very unacceptable. There's been a strong PDK policy regarding the Mini-Shengen issue, because we've fulfilled as a country and as a state all the criteria to have visa liberalisation”.
“The delegation's collapse from the political issue ] mutual recognition and guaranteeing the UN seat on technical issues for us has been unacceptable, and it is unacceptable that the topic that we have considered to be closed with Serbia” is open.
He has said the PDK has given support to the Kosovo delegation, and for them it has not been important (not) their participation.
“Of course we haven't told “this “The PDK has not consulted at all about the draft agreement. Despite other political parties, we have given support and said that Kosovo's delegation should exploit the political moment that has been created to sit down in the White House for the first time and discuss the matter”.
“has not been very important if The PDK is part of the delegation or not. We have told him that we will give support even in the Kosovo Assembly, but we have warned Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti that Kosovo should talk only about recognition. We have been warned by the prime minister to speak only of recognition of Kosovo and of maintaining the country's integrity and territorial sovereignty, and not of natural resource issues and Mini-Sengenin”.
Hoxha has estimated that Serbia is in a better position than Kosovo after Washington's meeting.
“I think that on issues that are very vital for Kosovo, Serbia is in a more favourable position today than Kosovo was. Until the Washington meeting was the opposite, because Kosovo was in a much better position”.
