Green: If Kosovo and Serbia want US dollars, then there should be economic progress

US President Richard Green's special emissary stated last night that only economic issues will be “on the table” in Washington on Thursday, but he did not rule out the possibility that other issues will open up in the talks.

On Thursday, there will be exclusive economic issues on the table and I agree with President Aleksandar Vuciq that no one knows which issues will be discussed on Friday,” said Greene in an online conversation with a group of journalists.

This is one of the problems we constantly face for the public and politicians to view this process only unilaterally,” said Green.

 

“We will see what will happen on Friday, what will happen Monday”, the American official added, adding that the process is a matter of creativity, not science.

 

Asked whether delegations could be offered an agreement similar to that reached between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Yerenel said he could not answer that question.

Each issue will be discussed and that depends on the parties if they want to discuss all issues,” he said.

The United States, as it claims, has no secret plan and has nothing to ask for from the parties.

The only thing they're going to ask for is that if the parties want help from the United States, if they want US dollars, then economic progress is needed. We don't want to spend our money and stand by,” said Ambassador Green.

As he stressed, last year, President Donald Trump's administration has focused on economic issues, development and says they have had notable success so far, citing the deployment of direct flights between Belgrade and Pristina, which, in addition to the railway building agreement and highway, calls a historic achievement.

According to Green, talks on the area of further development of economic co-operation will continue in Washington on Thursday, and new questions will be asked about trade, job creation and what preconditions must be met in order to establish deeper economic co-operation.

He believes that focusing on economic development will contribute to the progress of negotiations.

“We will make progress with new jobs and economic development,” said Greenell.

Asked whether one of the topics would be mutual recognition, Grenelli said only economic issues would be on the table Thursday.

The main question, says the American president's adviser, is whether the parties are willing to focus on economic development, which will affect the conduct of American capital, American industry, European capital and European industry.

Many businessmen feel extreme because they are unable to realise their projects due to cross-border restrictions and the inability of free movement between Serbia and Kosovo,” said Green.

He particularly stressed that he does not handle mediation in the dialogue process because of Trump's campaign.
