Dritan Abazovic, president of the URA movement in Montenegro since the August 30th elections, has secured four parliamentary mandates, will have a determining role in forming the new government.

But, during the interview given for “Balkan Talks”, for journalist Franco Egro, he expresses himself willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of a tangible change in the country, even though no proposals are lacking to elect the prime minister.

I think an expert government is needed, where politicians work in Parliament. Prime Minister? The possibility is, but I think in this government it's better to be people out of politics”, he says.

“Gjukanovic in 30 years has built a private state and everything has gone to the function of oligarchs who have been close to his family. We are appreciated by being told that we cannot defeat him, that you have no money and logistics. But I always believed it and came to this historic moment. It is the first time that in Montenegro, power is changed democratically”, he says.

Abazovic completely excludes the possibility of possible co-operation with President Djukanovic's party, saying he has always fought against it and will not violate those principles. Header The URA says its political force is Western and does not change its stance on Kosovo's independence.

The West has given a lot of support to Gaddafi, Mubarak and Milosevic. The West supports you if you work in their direction. Our course is totally pro-European and western. There is no change in foreign policy, attitude towards NATO or Kosovo independence”, he said.

According to him, the moment has come for other countries in the region to make changes in political elites, as only they can bring positive development

Abazovic does not spare criticism of ethnic Albanian parties in Montenegro, stressing that they have served Djukanovic's power at a time when he has ruled against Albanian interests. Despite that, he appeals that the two Albanian deputies be involved in the government.

The two Albanian deputies must integrate into the new government. They have not worked for the good of their own people so far, but have worked only in support of Djukanovic. In the 2003 census, Albanians were 7%, in 2011, 4.9%. For 20 years if it continued with this policy, there would be no more Albanians in Montenegro.

For the creation of the Tuzi municipality in 2015, Djukanovic's party has voted against and we as opposition have voted in favour. The Ulcinj municipality is the only poor coastal municipality in the country. Why aren't Albanian property returned? What policy do we talk about in favour of Albanians?”, he said.

Header The URA also disagrees with the position taken by official Tirana on the eve of the election process, stressing that Prime Minister Edi Rama damaged Albanians' interests.

“Podgorica from Tirana is only 200km away, but we can't understand. Is Edi Rama okay with Djukanovic? Do you think it's normal to support someone who has led us to discrimination? I read it as in the big slap of Albanian parties. For most leaders in the Balkans, I don't have a good opinion, and I don't have Rama here. People must come to put a new value”, Abazovic said.

Asked how true the statement about national hero Skenderbeun, Abazovic says his last name has changed during the period of communism, while its origin comes from a village in Kruja named Abazaj, and there is no way of not knowing the origin of Gjergj Kastriot.
