When you have restaurants, in closed environments, in a situation where you have a high level of community infection, you don't wear masks. This is a big problem!”, Dr. Fauci said in an interview for MSNBC.
“Cafimeters are a truly important site of the spread of infection, there is no doubt about this”, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases added further.
Research by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), published last week, showed that people who had recently dined were almost twice as likely to appear positive for coronarys compared to those who had not been in restaurants.
Despite the report The CDC, New York restaurants will be allowed to open in closed environments with 25 per cent of their capacity on September 30th, and bars in Florida opened at 50 per cent capacity Monday.
Dr Fauci said he fully agreed with the recommendation of the task co-ordinator for the White House Force, Dr. Deborah Birx, for bars and restaurants to remain closed in some areas where the outbreak of cases of Covid-19 has occurred.
