At least 13 people have died from the explosion of a gas pipe near a mosque in Bangladesh. In addition to the victims, 30 others were injured by the explosion.
The blast occurred Friday evening at a mosque in the Narayangaj district, near the capital of Daka. Firefighters believe the blast was caused by gas flows from a pipe, Reuters writes.
Tens of people were rushed to the hospital for burning and plastic surgery. Most of them were in severe flames.
Samantha Lal Sen, co-ordinator at the hospital, announced that there is a child among the victims. According to him, the death toll may increase because many of the injured are in critical condition.
According to fire officials, the gas that has been collected in the mosque after the leak is believed to have sparked the deadly explosion.
Abdullah Al Arefin, senior fireman, said that during the incident, six air conditioning devices have been turned in. Authorities have launched investigations into the case.
