They also show how Russian oligarchs have used banks to avoid sanctions that should stop them from taking money in the West.

These are the recent leaks of documents in a series of leaks that have occurred over the past five years that have exposed secret agreements, money laundering and financial crime, writes the BBC, translates Perirscope.

What are the FinCEN files?

FinCEN files are more than 2 thousand and 500 documents, most of which were files that banks have sent to US authorities between 2000 and 2017. They raise concerns about what their clients were doing.

These documents are some of the most preserved secrets of the international banking system.

Banks use them to report suspicious behaviour but do not provide evidence of various wrongdoings or crimes.

They were distributed in BuzzFed News.

Hundreds of journalists are currently investigating these highly dense and technical documents, and revealing activities that banks would not like public knowledge. /Periscope
