The nine men -- all former Bosnian Serb officers and soldiers -- allegedly have “planned, organised and participated in the killings and persecution of Muslim civilians in the Sokollac area in southeastern Bosnia, the prosecutor's office announced on September 16th.
In September 1992, Bosnian Serb forces surrounded the village of Novoseoc, about 40 km from Sarajevo, then sent male villagers to a garbage dump and shot them to death, the statement said.
Women and children were expelled from the village.
A mosque in Novoseoc was later destroyed and its remains were thrown over the remains of the slain. Among the victims, aged 14-82, is also a woman who was killed during the attack.
Bosnian prosecutors said former Serb commander Radislav Krstic is also suspected of the issue and will be questioned in Poland, where he is serving a 35-year sentence The Hague tribunal has pronounced for war crimes in the former Yugoslavia.
Bosnian authorities will request the extradition of an 11th suspect, identified as the K.N., who currently resides in Canada, prosecutors reported.
