American expert for the Balkans, professor Alon Ben Meir, has commented on the agreement reached 4 September between Kosovo and Serbia in Washington.
Through a Facebook post, Ben Meir said he was disappointed by the agreement in question, and one of the reasons is not to discuss mutual recognition. I am disappointed that the September 4th agreement between Kosovo and Serbia has been discussed mutual recognition between the two countries.
Economic agreements, though positive in some respects, have had to be made within the framework of final reconciliation that should lead to recognition of Kosovo as an independent state from Serbia”, he has said.
According to him, the two countries' economic and trade growth is good, but it is far from the true dynamic of conflict, in which Kosovars were victims of genocide. The economic exchange and trade exchange between the two veines is good, but it is far from changing the dynamics of conflict that have been embedded in the psychics of Kosovars who were victims of genocide and serious human rights violations in the war with Serbia”, he wrote.
