Albanians in Montenegro can use national symbols

The use of national symbols by minorities in Montenegro presented a continuing problem and was the subject of debate between Albanian political forces and Montenegrin officials.
Following numerous disputes, Montenegro's government in November last year adopted the draft law on national symbols proposed by the Ministry of Human Rights.
Sentences for displaying national symbols in Montenegro are a consequence of the Law to Preserve Public Peace, which was contrary to the law and the constitution, and condemned in the event the symbols of other states are unveiled.
According to Montenegro's law on public order, a citizen publicly showing a flag, coat or symbol of another state without authorisation was fined 100 to 500 euros or sentenced to prison for up to 30 days.
The courts in Montenegro punished many Albanians in Tuz or Ulcinj because of the use of the Albanian flag.
