The United States, but also around the world, commemorates today the 19th anniversary of the bloody attacks on September 11, 2001.
The attack on the Twin Towers was carried out on 11 September 2001 by a group of 19 radical kidnappers, 15 of whom were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt and one from Lebanon.
At first, a hijacked plane had crashed over the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, creating a deep crack on the building's face and triggering fire, and 17 minutes later another passenger plane crashed over the south tower.
About 3,000 people were killed in the September 11, 2001, attack.
Among the victims in the Twin Towers were 2,752 of them, 343 firefighters and 60 policemen. Most of the victims were civilians of 70 different nationalities. Ceremonies in New York and Washington will begin with a minute of silence when the attacks occurred. Experts say that September 11, 2001, changed many things in the world. These events were caused by the launch of a large US-led campaign against terrorism.
Several activities will be held to commemorate the victims of this attack in Kosovo.
