Twelve of the 17 infected parliamentarians are from the ruling Bharatiya Yanata party, according to a government official who owns the list. All 17 were part of parliament's lower house, which has 545 members.
One of the infected is Meennakshi Lekhi, who has announced that he is well.

It has not immediately become known how many members of parliament's upper chamber, which has 245 seats, have been infected.
