The Ministry of Education and Science the day before has announced the extension of the school year for September 14th due to the situation with COVID-19 in the country. Postponing the start of the school year was also the request of the United Education and Science Union (SBASHK).
Regarding the postponement of the school year, SBASK Chairman Nundman Jasharaj has said that the Ministry of Education and other educational institutions have understood it towards SBASK's appeal to postpone the new school year.
Jasharaj stressed that it should be sufficient to postpone the start of the new school year for two weeks if the Ministry of Education focuses solely on proper preparations and does not return to their debates.
If proper preparations don't take place like he said, the SBASK will again demand a postponement, and that's in his favor of the students not being infected by coronavirus.
The Ministry of Education and other educational institutions understood the SBASK appeal for the extension of the new school year. We had noticed that schools were not prepared for the start of the new school year and asked to be postponed until necessary preparations so that students could be sure of their health. If the Ministry of Education and other institutions concentrate on work and preparation and do not return to debates, they may be ready for two weeks to do all necessary preparations, but if the opposite happens then the SBASK will still come out and ask for the same thing. The SSASK will follow closely, and if we have information that we might be in danger, we'll still come out and ask for a postponement. Our goal is to protect students from COVIDD-19... if they act properly in two weeks they can carry out all necessary preparations for the start of the new school year”, Jasharaj said of Telegrafi.
Otherwise, days ago the Government of Kosovo approved the 2020 Master-Plan project lesson. The document presents three different scenarios possible for teaching organisation, under different conditions and situations in pre-university education institutions in Kosovo:
- a) Organizing school teaching requires investments in cleaning, maintenance and disinfecting schools;
- B) Combined learning (teach in schools and in distance) ʹ also requires investment in cleanliness, maintenance and disinfectation. It requires commitment of the aid-resert staff, including teachers, technical workers, doctors and psychologists. This option requires online instruction to develop simultaneously.
- c) Online and remote learning ʹ this option requires obtaining and acquiring technological equipment and developing online learning.
