Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq has stated that the Belgrade and Pristina delegation talks in Washington will most likely be held on September 3rd and 4th.
“Because of the possibility, but don't keep me in question, but they say there is a possibility that US President Donald Trump will appear, in case we agree on something”, Vuciq stressed on Saturday, August 22, during an interview on Serbian television “Prva”.
In the findings of the journalist that the American president, when it comes to small countries, is presented only when it's extremely important, Vucic answered, saying “this concerns me”.
On Friday, Vuciq had talked about the possibility of delaying the meeting in Washington, which has been warned on September 2nd.
However, from the Kosovo government on 21 August, free Europe reported Radio that they have no information whether the meeting will be postponed.
Xhavit Beqiri, Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti media adviser, told Radio Europe Free Europe that “also does not have any official announcement of the possibility of delaying the” meeting.
The White House's envoy for dialogue, Richard Green, announced on August 14th that on September 2nd, Kosovo and Serbia will meet in Washington. Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti responded positively to this invitation, and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.
The U.S. administration confirmed for THE REL will discuss economic issues at this meeting.
Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, after almost 2 years of interruption, resumed in Brussels on 16 July this year.
This process was suspended in November 2018, due to a tax Kosovo Government imposed on imports from Serbia. This tax was later replaced with reciprocity, but Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti's government lifted reciprocity in order to give it a chance to resume dialogue.
