The true number of infections is believed to be higher because of the testing capacities and discoveries that many people infected with coronarys have no symptoms.
But unlike the U.S., New Zealand marked the 100th day without a new case with COVID-19, the disease that causes the coronary.
“A hundred days after no transmission of community infection is a major achievement, however, as we all know, we cannot allow ourselves to be satisfied”, said New Zealand Health Director General Ashley Bloomfield.
New Zealand has 23 active cases. They are mainly citizens who have returned from travel and are located in centers of quarantine. So far, in this country of 5 million people, 1,219 cases of coronarys have been recorded.
But unlike New Zealand, the U.S. continues to be the worst hit country by the coronary pandemic. So far, over 162,000 deaths have been recorded in the US.
In most US states, they have been forced to pause economic reopening plans or to reverse insulating measures, due to increased numbers of new cases. Over 20 states in the United States are registering death increases and over 1,000 victims are registered daily throughout the country.
In Europe, meanwhile, most countries appear to be in control of the virus's outbreak, but there are also signs that new outbreaks of the virus are returning.
In recent weeks, France, Spain, and Germany have registered increases in new coronary cases.
In Latin America, Brazil has reached the estimated 100,000 victims from COVIID-19 and recorded over 3 million cases of coronary.
According to Johns Hopkins University data, worldwide over 19 million people have been infected with coronarys, and over 720,000 others have died.
