Turkey's president, Recep Tayip Erdogan, viewed this as a good news to be published Friday, saying a new “perage is starting for Turkey, but Erdogan did not elaborate on finding gas sources. According to Reuters, Turkish authorities claim that gas sources found on the Black Sea will potentially meet Turkey's energy needs for 20 years.
Turkey's drilling ship Fatih has operated since late July on an exploration zone known as Tuna-1, about 100 nautical miles north of Turkey's coast west of the Black Sea. “There's a natural gas find at Tuna Square 1. The expected reserve is 26 trillion cubic metres, or 800 billion cubic metres, and meets approximately 20 years of Turkish needs” - Turkish authorities said.
It is learned that it may take seven to 10 years to start production, and according to preliminary estimates investment costs are between $2 billion and $3 billion.
