Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said Ankara “expects justice from the EU” and that his country has no intention of withdrawing.
“We do not remember Europe supporting Turkey on every issue, standing close to Turkey and the Turkish people, Europe is more responsive to such issues. In short, the European Union is accustomed to exciting reactions to everything that is in our favor and to our nation. The EU views itself as an international court and a mechanism that determines who is right and who is wrong, positions himself in a country that does not belong to it and sees everything from its own perspective and interests. The EU is not an international court or a mechanism to determine who is right, and who is not”, Oktai said.
He quoted Chancellor Angela Merkel as stating that we as the member-state “should support Greece”, which for the number two of the Turkish state implies “we have no other solution”.
He added that the Turkish side sees no objections to bilateral meetings, but in institutional dimension, as he said, “looks at an EU that makes the ear deaf”.
