Switzerland has included Spain, with the exception of the Canary and Baleare Islands, on the list of countries from which quarantine is mandatory in case of returning to the country due to increased risk of coronary infection.
Spain, one of the most affected countries in the pandemic with nearly 28,500 deaths, has been added to the list of countries and territories from which quarantine is mandatory after arrival, the Federal Public Health Office announced today.
This list includes Bahamas, Equatorial Guinea, Romania, Sao Tome and Príncipe, Singapore, and the Caribbean island of St. Martin.
People who have been in one of these areas are in increased danger of contracting the SARS-CoV-2. They must be “immediately after returning to Switzerland to their home or the next suitable residence”.
According to the Swiss agency ATS, measures for those returning from Spain come into force on Saturday.
Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates and Russia have been removed from the list since August 8th, the public health office said on its website.
Following a similar move by the United Kingdom, Germany on Friday declared three regions of Spain that include quarantine for passengers returning from them unless they have evidence of a negative COVID-19 result.
The Spanish government said last week there was no second wave and that the country was safe for tourists.
