Shots outside the White House prompted US President Donald Trump to suddenly leave his press conference minutes after he started.
The president left the press conference at the White House about three minutes after he started talking, after an agent from the security service asked him out.
“There were shots fired outside the White House”, Trump told reporters after returning a few moments later.
The law enforcement officers shot someone, it looks like the suspect. He's going to the hospital... I can't tell you the state of the suspect”, Trump said.
He said the situation was “under control” and that” no one else was hurt during the” incident.
Secret services later said on Twitter that one of the officers was also sent to the hospital as a result of the shooting.
This is very unusual”, Trump said.
The president said he believed the suspect was armed, but did not know the full details, such as the kind of gun or whether it was the target of the shooting.
Trump praised the secret services and said he felt safe.
